Toby Keith has brought another message of American Spirit to the forefront through ”American Ride”. Through his celebrity, he is confirming to many of us what we’ve been thinking – (about the WACKO stuff happening today) and puts it together in a SONG that really ROCKS. I know, the songwriter wasn’t Toby. It was “penned by Joe West and Dave Pahanish and was called “American Life” when it was submitted to him. The song, which debuted at No. 38 on the Hot Country Songs chart, “makes fun of all the wackiness that goes on in this country” and gives Keith a chance to approach his own status as “a political lightning rod” with some levity. The video is well done and takes somewhat of a “jib jab” type of animation.
The American Ride is alive!
By reading many of the comments on youtube.com versions of American Ride, by and large, we agree, and are at the same time getting a twinge of patriotism in our hearts when we hear the metaphors Toby weaves through the song with his American style.
Bottom line is (there’s always a bottom line) Its not only a great song, but we (and anyone who matters) undoubtedly agree and will not dispel the fact that Toby Keith is one fine American - he’s got outstanding persistent talent, a very sexy masculinity, and genuine American patriotism. He truly cares about our troops – and I’ve seen him defend America in very public ways over the years. Perhaps a fun song about Tiger Woods would help us to understand him a bit better too. Toby, would you take on that challenge?
